Product Details

The daily process for these trips is as follows: Wake-Up and Eat; Paddle; portage; set up camp; relax/eat and hang by the fire; repeat. Participants will be in a lightweight Kevlar canoe traveling along a chain of lakes or rivers mainly in the Boundary Water Canoe Area in Minnesota, while camping along the way. Canoes are transported over land between lakes—this is called a portage. Traveling this way allows for a change in topography and provides opportunities to see wildlife. Participants will practice or learn the various paddling strokes, how to set up a camp, how to build a fire and hopefully how to clean a fish as fishing may be included. Physical requirements include the ability to hike a few miles at a time while carrying 25-50lbs on their back or shoulders. Weather can change drastically and even though the canoes are sturdy, participants should be able to swim despite always wearing a life jacket while in the canoe. Degree of physical difficulty: moderate. Refer to the Frequently Asked Questions page and check out the gear list to is provided by BCS for the trip.
